W elcome to “A Cuban Overseas,” a brand new travel blog dedicated to YOU. I’ve wanted to write about my travel experiences for quite a bit of time now, but never got actually got to making blog until now.
Why am I creating this blog? Simple. I want to share with you how I travel the world on a budget, and I want you to see that you can do it, too.
I started traveling the world by myself around the age of 17, and now I’ve gone to almost 40 countries in 4 continents. Most of these have been solo trips and it has all been self-funded. I’m not rich. I haven’t won the lottery. Not yet, at least. I’m actually your typical college student that’s quite broke, but I choose to not let that stop me from seeing the world.
Today, nothing makes me happier than traveling and helping others do the same. I hope you embark on this journey with me where I will give you tips, advice, and will write about my experiences in cities around the world. I’ll tell you the secrets on how to travel the world on a budget, in some cities with as little as $15 a day, including accommodation. I’ll tell you top spots to visit and things to avoid. It’ll be a bit of all!
Of course, can’t leave without commenting on the title. The name “A Cuban Overseas” actually came from a really good friend. I was born and raised in Cuba and always dreamt of traveling the world, but never thought I’d get to do it. I moved to the United States ten years ago, when I was 11, and that dream became a reality.
I hope you join me on this journey around the world, both through this blog and hopefully one day even in person.
Con mucho cariño,
